Set Designer's Note

When the directing team first talked about the design of the show, we quickly agreed that this story has an incredible fluidity  to it, highly influenced by the way we all imagined the conversation within the Trinity.  As we talked about those conversations, we imagined sound, light and movement, much like those observed in the Northern Lights.  When we saw Scott’s description of his experience with the aurora borealis back in September, we knew we needed his help to design the set.

I don’t have the words to describe the northern lights up here... The lights here are different than the ones back home. You can literally walk over and stand underneath them. They move like water and smoke then burst into flickering flames. They move constantly and are absolutely overwhelming while at the same time ethereal and ghostly. No fireworks show even comes close to comparing to them.

Tonight was a truly religious experience. I feel like I stood in the presence of the transcendent. God reached down and painted the sky playing with colors and light and I got to witness it. They were like standing in the center of a light tornado.

If you get a chance to come to the edge of the world and watch these light then you should jump at it. That is all I got. —Scott Laubenstein, Facebook, Sept 28/19
